Plastic extrusion: the core of our industrial expertise
Plastic extrusion is a continuous process consisting of heating a thermoplastic material, transporting it via a screw system, and pushing it through an extrusion die to give it a defined shape.
The extruded product is then calibrated, cooled and cut, ensuring precise dimensions and a uniform finish.
At ABI Profils, our 15 single- and twin-screw extrusion lines (WEBER, AMUT, BATTENFELD CINCINNATI) can be configured for:
- Technical parts from 10 g to 5 kg per linear metre
- A wide range of geometries: tubes, profiles, sheaths, cores
- Standard and technical plastics: PVC, PP, HDPE, ABS, PA, PC, etc.
Each line is equipped with volumetric or gravimetric dosing systems ensuring perfect material homogeneity and consistent dimensional performance.

Co-extrusion and tri-extrusion: combining multiple materials for high-performance profiles
Co-extrusion and tri-extrusion are multi-material extrusion processes that combine two or three polymers within a single extruded profile.
Several extruders feed an extrusion die simultaneously, each melting and injecting a different material at controlled flow rates and temperatures. The material streams merge inside a multi-layer die where they fuse to form a single profile with differentiated geometries and properties.
This process delivers bi-material profiles with complementary functionalities, such as:
- A rigid core with a soft or elastomeric surface
- Sealing zones combined with clipping or fastening zones
- Contrasting colours or textures
- Multi-layer structures enhancing mechanical strength, surface glide or insulation
At ABI Profils, our 6 modular co-extrusion and tri-extrusion machines are configured according to the technical requirements of each project.
Precise control of flow rates, temperatures and fusion points ensures perfect material bonding and consistent dimensional stability along the entire production run.
This process is particularly suited to:
- Construction: bi-material sealing profiles, technical finishing profiles
- Automotive: flexible components with rigid inserts
- POS / Technical Industries: profiles combining aesthetic and functional properties

Post-extrusion: successive in-line material integration
Post-extrusion is an advanced continuous extrusion process: a first material is extruded, then one or more additional layers are applied or fused further along the same line using a secondary die positioned downstream.
This technique integrates new functionalities without interrupting the process, ensuring optimal adhesion between materials.
Unlike co-extrusion (where the materials converge inside the same die), post-extrusion applies material after the initial profile exits the die, allowing:
- Targeted material deposition on specific areas (coating, protection layers, soft inserts, coloured stripes)
- Functional barriers (chemical, thermal, electrical)
- Differentiated zones (adhesive surfaces, low-friction areas, decorative finishes)
Our 15 versatile extrusion lines can be configured for post-extrusion while ensuring:
- Homogeneous fusion of added layers
- Precise calibration of the complete profile
- Long-term mechanical and aesthetic stability
Post-extrusion is widely used for developing complex technical profiles requiring enhanced mechanical, aesthetic or chemical performance.
