Polypropylene (PP) cores

Polypropylene (PP) cores

Our Polypropylene (PP) cores are designed to meet high standards of mechanical strength and thermal stability. Their versatility and robustness make them particularly suitable for industrial applications requiring high durability, such as plastic film winding. Our Polypropylene (PP) cores are available in a wide range of standard or custom dimensions.

For a core that meets your specific needs, not just the standard.

Fields of Application

Polypropylene (PP) cores are used across various industrial sectors, including:

  • Plastic film industry: For winding technical plastic films exposed to temperature variations.
  • Food industry: Ideal for films and sheets in contact with food products.
  • General industrial applications: Suitable for uses requiring a combination of lightweight and chemical resistance.

Material Used

Our cores are made from Polypropylene (PP), a thermoplastic polymer renowned for its lightweight, chemical resistance, and mechanical performance suitable for various industrial applications. PP is particularly suited to demanding industrial environments thanks to its specific properties:

  • Mechanical resistance: PP offers moderate rigidity, slightly more flexible than HDPE, providing elasticity while maintaining strength.
  • Wear and fatigue resistance: It performs well under repeated load and unload cycles, making it durable for long-term applications.
  • Lightweight: With a density of approximately 0.90 g/cm³, PP is lighter than HDPE, facilitating core handling while reducing the weight of wound assemblies.
  • Heat and temperature variation resistance: PP retains its mechanical properties even in environments with significant thermal variations.
  • High chemical resistance: Resistant to many chemicals, including acids, bases, solvents, and oils, making it ideal for industrial settings exposed to harsh substances.
  • Chemical inertness: Safe for applications involving food contact or sensitive products, compliant with many food safety standards.
  • Recyclability: Fully recyclable, Polypropylene is an environmentally responsible option.

Manufacturing Process and Quality

Polypropylene (PP) cores are produced through plastic extrusion, ensuring uniform products that meet the highest quality standards. The material is melted, homogenised, and shaped using an extruder.

At ABI Profils, we operate 15 mono- and twin-screw extrusion lines, enabling us to adapt production to your project specifications.

Purchasing Polypropylene (PP) Cores from ABI Profils

ABI Profils has over 40 years of experience in manufacturing Polypropylene (PP) cores. We produce technical cores in various plastic materials tailored to your needs, from standard to technical or regenerated materials. We develop individual solutions in collaboration with your teams, precisely adapted to your requirements.

Production is exclusively performed using modern technologies, designed to suit the materials and processes while preserving resources and the environment.

Tool design is carried out using 3D and 2D CAD systems in our in-house workshop. To support the development stages, we use the Product Development Sheet (PDS) method, which includes a functional and aesthetic analysis focused on manufacturability and industrialisation costs. These documents summarise all the project’s guiding principles.

Based on your specifications, technical constraints, functional needs, aesthetic requirements, and environmental concerns, a project manager will support you throughout the development process.

Contact a project manager to learn more and discuss your project.

Development Phases for Your Polypropylene (PP) Cores

Here are the main steps for developing your projects with ABI Profils:

  • Creating the Product Development Sheet (PDS).
  • 3D/2D design and modelling.
  • Anticipating project timelines.
  • Preparing the Product Quality Analysis File (PQAF).
  • Material analysis and prototyping.
  • Technical study and tool design.

ABI Profils supports you throughout this process, from specifications to industrialisation.
