Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) cores

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) cores

Our Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) cores are designed to meet high requirements for compressive strength and dimensional stability, even in environments subject to temperature variations. These robust and versatile cores are suitable for demanding industrial applications and are available in a wide range of standard or customised dimensions.

Applications

PVC cores are designed to meet the requirements of various industrial sectors, including:

  • Technical film industry: Used for winding plastic films that require excellent dimensional stability.
  • Textile sector: Suitable for winding fabrics, plastic films, or adhesive tapes thanks to their lightweight and high compressive strength.
  • Agricultural sector: Used for winding agricultural films exposed to demanding environmental conditions.
  • Other industrial sectors: Ideal for environments where high compressive strength and resistance to thermal and chemical variations are required.

You can find more details about our application areas [here].

Technical Information

  • Internal diameters: Available in almost all 3-inch diameters: Ø 76 to Ø 102 mm, with other diameters available on request.
  • Interior finish: Available in smooth or grooved versions.
  • Widths: Inline cuts from 100 mm to 4000 mm.

Material Used

Our cores are made of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), a thermoplastic polymer known for its excellent mechanical, chemical, and thermal properties. These characteristics make it a versatile and reliable material for industrial applications:

  • High mechanical strength: PVC provides excellent rigidity and compressive strength, meeting the demands of challenging environments.
  • Dimensional stability: This material maintains its dimensions and performance even in environments subject to significant temperature variations.
  • Chemical resistance: PVC is resistant to many chemicals, making it suitable for industrial environments exposed to corrosive substances.
  • Durability and recyclability: PVC is a robust and durable material that can be recycled to minimise environmental impact.

Manufacturing Process and Quality

PVC cores are produced through plastic extrusion. This process ensures homogeneous products that meet the highest quality standards. The material is melted, homogenised, and pressed through an extruder to shape the cores.

At ABI Profils, we operate 15 single and twin-screw extrusion lines, allowing us to adapt our production capacity to the specifications of your projects.

Buying PVC Cores from ABI Profils

With over 40 years of experience in manufacturing PVC cores, ABI Profils develops tailored solutions in collaboration with your teams. We offer a range of plastic materials, from standard to highly technical or recycled options, to meet your needs precisely.

Production is exclusively carried out using modern technologies, designed to optimise resource efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Tool design is performed using 3D/2D CAD software in our in-house workshop.

To follow every step of your project development, we work under the FDP (Product Development Sheet) method. Functional and aesthetic analyses are focused on manufacturing feasibility and industrialisation costs. These documents consolidate all key guidelines for your project.

A dedicated project manager will support you throughout every phase of your development, taking into account your specifications, technical constraints, aesthetic preferences, and environmental considerations.

Contact a project manager to learn more and discuss your project.

Development Phases for Your PVC Cores

Here are the main steps involved in the development of your projects at ABI Profils:

  1. Creating the Product Development Sheet (FDP).
  2. 3D/2D design and modelling.
  3. Anticipating the project schedule.
  4. Preparing the Product Quality Analysis Dossier (DAQP).
  5. Material analysis and prototyping.
  6. Technical study and development of dies and tooling.

ABI Profils supports you throughout this entire process, from the initial specifications to industrialisation.
